Homeschool Convention Preparations

Basic Disclosure for all post

It’s that time of year, time to get your homeschool convention preparations underway. I can tell you taking time for homeschool convention preparations will really pay off once you walk in the door to the convention hall. As a seasoned convention attendee, this year, I went to my first a bit un-prepared, or not as prepared as I normally do, and it was a little too chaotic for my liking. So, I am here to tell you, even if you are a seasoned convention attendee, don’t neglect the beforehand homeschool convention preparations.

Homeschool Convention Preparation Steps

First I make a list of the curriculum I plan to look at or purchase, using this list.

Curriculum Needs Price Comparison List Fixed I use this at Homeschool conventions, or anytime I am shopping for curriculum to help locate the best price.

I then fill this out, and get the year’s plan for each child laid out, so I can quickly glance to see where possible loop holes will be:

Curriculum Ideas-Fill this form out for each child with a list of curriculum ideas to check out.

I also make a schedule of vendor booths to visit, workshops to attend, and print off pages to take workshop notes on. See this page for several printable pages to use for your homeschool convention preparation.

This year, I am also using Evernote to plan my convention workshops, and purchases. It helps me keep from shuffling through pages and such, and allows me to use my phone or tablet to see at a glance what is up next.

Packing for the convention can be a little challenging, this is where I messed up for my first convention this year. I packed quickly and put my list away with out referring to it as I was loading stuff in our van…OOOPPPPS…

However, with a bit of quick thinking and a hearty prayer asking God to give me grace and an idea to work around my mistake, I managed to pretty much get through the convention without a much trouble.

Here is my Convention Packing List

I print three of these off, however the office part of the list only applies to me. I print one off for Mom and Dad, one for boys and one for girls. I place all my pintables in a notebook with my binder. I put together and then clip on a clipboard. This keeps everything together and at the ready as need throughout my Homeschool Convention Preparations.

If you are attending with babies, toddlers and other children, you will want to check out this post.

My next convention I will be attending this year, is Teach Them Diligently in Omaha.

Peace Sig
