Free Winter Writing Prompts Printable

Basic Disclosure for all post

If your children are like mine, they hate the boring writing books that are widely available to homeschools. It seems homeschool children are a bit umm… spoiled? Spoiled by parents who are creative teachers. It isn’t a bad thing, but, it makes things difficult when parents are in a super busy season and have to cut out some of their creative teaching. I love offering writing prompts. These offer creativity that I didn’t have to think to hard on, and give my children a writing assignment with enough guidance to get it done without too many thoughts from me.

Free Winter Writing Prompts

Today, I am offering everyone who visits this blog a free winter writing prompt. I hope it gives your children a few ideas to write about over the next few months.

Some ways to help encourage creativity is to make some fun supplies available for decorating their final drafts. Rubber stamps, scrapbooking paper, decorative scissors and even pictures you have taken of them doing some of the activities would be a fun addition to these writing prompts.

I know boys aren’t into the decorative type stuff so much, but allowing them to draw using chalk pastels, colored pencils and even having them paint a picture on a separate piece of paper will help them develop a little more creativeness in their writing.

Another idea is to allow you children to get a little graphics arts in while they work through these prompts. Let them design images, teach them how to legally grab graphics from the web, how to use fonts and colors and so forth. Any time my children balk at a writing assignment, I mention using the computer for it and boom, they are all over it.

I would love to hear how you use these winter writing prompts in your homeschool in the comments.

Peace Sig
