Let's Read Together Passionate Housewives Desperate for God

Hi! Welcome to Peace Creek on the Prairie. If this is your first time here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! Have a blessed day.

As many of you know, I was at a homeschool convention this weekend. It was such a blessing. My husband was able to go this year, and we were able to pick out some wonderful items for our family. On our way, I told him I wanted a book to encourage me along the way this year. So, together we picked out Passionate Housewives Desperate for God.

I really don’t struggle with being home. There are days I want to get out, but just briefly, as in away for an hour, and those days are few and far between. However, what I struggle with is the fact that many of my friends and family like to comment that I am “just a housewife”. Which I know is not true, but it puts that thought in my head and on bad days pushes me to believe that I am not planted where I should be. So, hubby felt that this would be a great book to encourage me on those days.

Passionate Housewives Desperate for God: Fresh Vision for the Hopeful Homemaker

By Jennie Chancey & Stacy McDonald / The Vision Forum, Inc

Filled with encouragement and words of wisdom, Passionate Housewives is written for women who aspire to live in obedience to Christ, but struggle to reconcile society’s definition of womanhood with God’s Word. Learn why the “desperate housewife” is a myth and discover why women should embrace their god-given role as a homemaker and helpmeet. Stacy McDonald and Jennie Chancey show how you can find true contentment in God’s order and discover overwhelming joy by dying to self. 206 pages, paperback.

I am a transparent person. If we are having a string of troubles, you know it. My happy juice tends to dry up, and the muddy waters flood, as people point out to me, that homeschooling, large families, and staying home are what causes all those troubles. Really, I don’t believe any of it, but those words are Satan’s seeds attempting to sprout in my mind.

As women, who do what we are called to do with out kicking and screaming through the journey, we are frowned upon by many in society. We have to find our encouragement and many times it is through a book. I believe that Passionate Housewives Desperate for God will be a wonderful book to help build that encouragement.

Melissa at Multitasking Mama and I have worked together to bring you Holy Housewives a reading group offering prayer, support and encouragement for those reading our current books. We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to join us.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! I bought it when it first came out about a year or so ago….I think. Anyway, like the previous post says, it is a great book of encouragement. In today’s society (even in our own churches) motherhood is not upheld or encouraged…and dont even get me started about the support (or rather lack there of) for homeschooling mothers; it can be discouraging for those of us trying to do the best for our families by following God’s design. It is a wonderful book, one I have read several times.

  • This is an excellent book! It’s not a how-to book, but rather a book that just encourages you to always be striving for a blessed life. Enjoy!
