Last year I attended a new convention, Teach Them Diligently. I came home encouraged, and refreshed ready to try new ideas and new curriculum in our homeschool. I also came home with many ideas to help keep our family centered on Christ all the time, even when our Bibles are put away.

What is the Teach Them Diligently Convention?
Teach Them Diligently is a large, but intimate celebration in the Word of God and His plan for families. The goal of the convention is to encourage parents to focus on discipleship and soak their homes in the gospel. The organizers pray over this convention for months and bring in speakers and vendors with the same focus. The result is not just your typical homeschool convention book fair or academic exercise, but something more. The parents are entrusted with the special task of leading their children through the Word and to equip them to be our Lord’s servants in the world.
Where will the Teach Them Diligently Convention be?
Teach Them Diligently is coming May 2013 to Spartanburg, SC; Nashville, TN; and Omaha, NE. In 2012, this convention was in Spartanburg, SC, and attracted a community of over 7000 homeschoolers. As an attendee at the 2012 convention, I can’t say enough about the wonderful encouragement, refreshment and support I came home with. Not just for homeschooling, but as a mom, parent, and Christian woman.
What is the vision of Teach Them Diligently?
We view homeschooling as a form of ministry and state whether we realize it or not, we reproduce who we are in our children. Therefore, we have a constant need for renewal and encouragement in Christ. This is the reason for the Teach Them Diligently Convention. We believe a homeschool convention should be a waterfall of enrichment and encouragement in Christ, and a re-focus toward discipleship.
Who will the speakers be?
A variety of speakers including Voddie Baucham, Ken Ham, Heidi St. John, Clay & Sally Clarkson, Davis & Rachel Carmen, Israel Wayne, Debra Bell, Hal & Melanie Young and many others will join us to minister to the families coming to the Teach Them Diligently Convention.
Where do the proceeds form Teach Them Diligently Conventions go?
All proceeds got o support missions of World Wide Tentmakers. This year they are building a preschool in Poland that should be open in the next month or so!!
So, which convention am I headed to?
I have my registration made for Omaha, I have our hotel reservations, and I have a dear friend who will be joining our family. If all the timing goes just right, we will make it a little vacation and see some sites on our way.
Who are we most excited to see?
Probably Tam Tebow, Heidi St. John, and….Ken Ham. Last year, I got to visit with Ken Ham.
Who am I disappointed to miss?
Israel Wayne, as he won’t be in Omaha, but I saw him two times last year!
What will my children do, while I attend workshops?
My children will be attending the children’s and teen programs. We didn’t utilize these last year, as I went alone. However, this year we are going together as a family.
Here is a little about the program for 4-12 year olds.
Ten-HUT!
The Teach Them Diligently Convention wants YOU to join in “The Battle for Truth.” All junior soldiers between the ages of 4 and 11 can enlist in the fight against the Christian’s three major enemies — the world, the flesh, and their commanding officer, the Devil. Uniformed in the Armor of God, we’ll study the Bible in age-specific squadrons and complete tactical exercises, all designed to help you be all that you can be in the army of the Lord.
This year, the children’s program will be produced and directed by Teach Them Diligently from start to finish. “General” Matt Reid and his wife Anna Niarchos Reid, both graduates of Bob Jones University, will be leading the charge. Recently married, Matt and Anna are currently serving in Salt Lake City, Utah, helping to plant Grace Church of Utah. Prior to their marriage, however, Matt traveled with the Galkin Evangelistic Team. He coordinated children’s ministries for the team and, prior to that, he spent several summers counseling at THE WILDS Christian Camp in Brevard, NC. The expertise he brings to this effort is invaluable, and we are confident that he and Anna are both highly-qualified to lead your children as they are on the “front lines” for Jesus Christ!
What about my 13 year old?
He will be attending the Four-12 
teen track.
Four-12 Teen Track
Teens who are looking to strengthen their faith will want to take part in the Four-12 Teen Track. An intensive Apologetics program, Four-12 is sponsored by Apologia Academy, and speakers will include Larry Blythe and Charity Decker, both of the Apologia team. Learn how to answer unbelieving friends who question your convictions. Discover ways to be bolder in sharing the Gospel, and get helpful hints as to how to remain pure in a world that is anything but pure.
A $5 pre-registration fee is required for the Four-12 Teen Track.
Please note, that parents may choose for the 12 year olds as to which program they attend, the children’s or the teen. There will also be other opportunities announced a little later for children and teens.
So, as you can see, I have been busy figuring out who will do what, where we will be, and where we will stay.
