Homeschool Mother’s Journal May 13

In my life this week…

This week I have kept busy with blog stuff, from designing a homeschool blog for a friend, to keeping up with my own blogs.  We also took a day off and went grocery shopping.  I hit Office Max during a sale on ink and managed to get plenty for this summer.

On Monday we celebrated our Noah’s fifth birthday.  He was my big baby at 10 lbs. 7 oz. when born.  The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In our homeschool this week…

We have been working through the rest of our review products.  We are also working hard on our regular school stuff.  We have enjoyed working through more of our Revolutionary War studies.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

Besides grocery shopping, I got to spend a few minutes with another homeschool mom.  We enjoyed catching up and talking homeschool.

My favorite thing this week was…

Eating chocolate cake for Noah’s birthday and spending the day with him.

What’s working/not working for us…

The cool weather.  We had gotten used to spending 3-4 hours outside a day and now it is staying in the mid fifties…It is MAY…

My children have been wound up crazy like, and I am ready to build a rock wall in our living room with a trampoline floor, at the top of the rock wall will be a rope so they can swing down.

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have…

Who is ready for summer?  In many ways, my head says to take a summer break, however, in my heart I know it is better for our family to school through the summer on most days, but reduce it to math, grammar/spelling/writing and lapbooks.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

I love this journal idea! Would you allow me to do something similar on my blog?

Click on the image of the Homeschool Mother’s Journal and you can participate there. This is a meme and several of us participate there.

It has rained here literally every day this week - and has never gotten above 55, if that. My girls are going stir-crazy, too, and we’re having their birthday party tomorrow. It’s supposed to be outside…but that won’t be happening so my house is going to be…well, something else tomorrow night!

As for summer, we’ll wrap up the spring term on May 25, then take off through June 12 and start our summer session on the 13th. But formal bookwork is much less in the summer - just enough to lend some structure to the days and prevent knowledge lapses.

I KNOW! Yesterday my 6YO and I spent literally the entire day outside. Written schoolwork done on the porch other work done in the yard. Today we’re back in the house and bummed. I want to be out every day!
