We don’t always homeschool through the summer. In fact, it has been several years since we have. However, this past year we had several interruptions, and I believe we need to cover a bit extra this year. So, I am working on our summer homeschool plans.
Our Summer Homeschool Plans, will be a light school… I expect them to complete 2-3 days worth of a few subjects each week. We are not doing any extras, just review and completing some of the 3Rs.
We will do Bible every day… 7 times a week. We will be using the Children’s Character Building Set from Grace and Truth Books as our Read Alouds this summer.
The retail value of this set is $29, but during the Build Your Bundle Sale, you can grab it and many more in the Character Building Bundle for $19.
I have several I would like to see build on their phonics and reading skills. They will be doing a few pages 2-3 times a week from their phonics books and reading daily.
We will do some math drill practice 2-3 times a week. Playing Math Sorry, and other games to build on skills they have learned recently.
For Grammar and Writing, we will be using a BRAND NEW Curriculum for Brookdale House. Middle School Grammar Workbook is a grammar and composition workbook for students that are ready for an introduction to more advanced grammar. In addition to teaching grammar, this workbook contains sentence and paragraph writing exercises.

To top off our week, assuming we get at least 2 days of school done, and we are caught up on our chores (housework, yard work, garden, farm and such), we will have fun days on Friday and or Saturday. Our family loves to be creative. One of my plans is to do the Sunflower Unit from See the Light, available in the Build Your Bundle Sale in the Unit Studies Bundle.
The fun won’t last all day and it will typically be kept educational in some way. Some of my best childhood memories are from summer fun with family. Let’s not forget to keep making memories with our children. They grow up so fast.
Summer homeschool plans don’t need to be overwhelming to be beneficial. In fact, you could probably make a few games and accomplish a lot. Homeschool moms need a break over the summer too (or sometime during the year). We have worked hard keeping the homeschool going, and we also need a bit of time to plan for the next season of homeschooling.
Three of my readers will win the Middle School Grammar Workbook (ebook versions) from Brookdale House, a $20.95 value! Enter below!!
