Nature Study Tuesday~September 28~ Large Moth

Basic Disclosure for all post

This week we were out playing, and our landlord/adopted grandpa drove in with a special package.  I guess our love of nature must have rubbed off on him. ;)  Anyway, he brought us a large moth.  We believe it is a tobacco hornworm  moth, but umm, it seems that these big moths all look very much alike.   He found the moth on a gas pump, and I suspect that is probably not it’s normal habitat.  This moth’s host plants are in the night shade family—tomatoes, tobacco, potatoes.  It’s wingspan is 3.5 to 4.5 inches.
