This year, we purchased our Father’s Day Gifts for my Hot Guy. He needs, as in NEEDS new work shirts and a couple of good shirts. His are thread bare and have rips in them. Not to mention several are all covered in farmer’s gunk, known as dirt and grease or oil stands. No matter how hard or with what I wash his clothes in, they don’t exactly come clean.
Normally we make him something, but because he has an actual true need we didn’t this year. However, we did make our wrapping paper. We will also be making a full menu based on his favorites.
So, what is the blessing?
Little “J” who is spending several days this summer with us, had not yet gotten her daddy anything for Father’s Day. In fact, she couldn’t remember getting or making something before. So, while we were all out shopping for the Hot Guy, I let her pick him out a little something. This little 9 year old was so VERY excited. I am just so happy to be a part of her life, and to be planting a few seeds.
So, how do we make the paper?
First, I save the paper that books and other such goods are packed in. Lora rolls or neatly folds it for use later.
I use Colorations Finger Paints. These are the BEST paints for kids on the market. I mean the BEST!!!!! They don’t crack or chip, they wash off easily and are smooth and creamy. I have had the SAME paints for 12 years!!! They don’t dry out either.
I use foam brushes to paint the children’s hands. They wear some of daddy’s dark blue T-shirts. The paint seems to wash out of them great.
I lay out our paper on the table, then I paint a child’s hands their color choice. We place them randomly on the paper and move onto the next child.
It is really quite simple.
What are you doing for Father’s Day?
