I rarely get a free awake moment from my kiddoes, I don’t even really yearn for it anymore, but summer time is the time I do get it.

I get it after they have their bathes and while they do their evening chores.  I go out to my garden, weed, water and pray.  Sometimes I pray for my plants to produce, as normally I am counting on them to get us through the winter.

I also will call a friend and have a mom chat while I walk the driveway.  I get my exercise in and get to refresh with another mom.  It probably isn’t ideal for many, but it does work for me.

I have dreams of meeting other moms regularly for a milk shake or some other tasty treat, but in my rural farm life season, it doesn’t yet happen.

See, my children wake with me, go to bed at the same time.  My Hot Guy (aka husband) leaves by 6 or 6:30 am and gets in around 10pm or even later.  In order for our children to get any time with him, we all stay up late.  If I didn’t take a little time somewhere in there to refresh every day, I would not be as good of a mom.  And in all honesty, there is a lot of room for improvement for me as a mom, wife, woman of God.

It isn’t that I need away from my children, or that I don’t want to be around them, but I need some quiet time to hear God.  With six to seven children in my home awake and near me every waking hour, it is often hard to hear myself think, let alone hear what God may be trying to tell me.

Psalm 62:5“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.”

As Moms, sometimes we get so busy taking care of everyone we can’t hear, see, or feel God working in our lives.  My time working in my garden of an evening or walking etc., helps me to find the quiet place to see, feel and hear Him.

Matthew 11:28–29“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

As Moms we can grow weary with out taking time to hear Him.  When we strive so hard to be that Proverbs 31 woman, we must remember to still take time for ourselves, to find Him.

Oh my, yes! This is just what has finally come to a head this week! I need to reset, somehow, get back into the word consistently, back to his feet, so I can pour out the love and grace he has given me on my children.
