A few weekends ago our family attended the Teach Them Diligently Convention in Omaha. We were blessed with great speakers, and a van loaded with books on the way home. We enjoyed getting to know some of our past and new friends better.
My favorite speakers from Teach Them Diligently were Heidi St. John and Rachael Carman.
Heidi St. John focuses so much on being real. She helps you realize that you are really not much different than she is. You are a sinning mom and well, she is too, but she offers so much encouragement. She is funny, real, honest, and God is using her to bring moms the encouragement they need on this mothering journey.
Rachael Carman brings God full circle into your homeschool journey. She offers scripture, encouragement, prayer and support. She is real, and shows you how God is working in her life, just as He is working in your own. You will come away refreshed and ready to take on this homeschool and parent journey better prepared from His word and her encouragement from His word, than you have been.
Meeting and Making friends
As the weekend wore on, I enjoyed visiting with many friends, both old and new. Meeting people I have known online for sometime was a huge highlight. Getting to know people in real life after knowing them online is so much fun. Most of the time I am even more impressed with them in person.
Another thing I came home with…a few of Heidi St. John’s books… or should I say the five I didn’t already own. I will be joining her morning Bible study this fall.
Well, I won’t be worrying so much over the fact that I am not a consistent blogger. I will blog when I have the time. I have always pretty much left my blogging schedule in God’s hands, but when I do and I don’t get to it, or leave for a season, I am not going to let it bother me as it had in the past. We are only raising our children for a season, and I don’t want my blogging to get in the way of that. Yes, blogging has become an income for me, but if I leave it to God, I have faith He will bless my blog (income) more, and provide like I never would have imagined. That is just how He works. I have seen it over and over again.
We hit the Answers in Genesis booth hard, coming home with lots of goodies for young and old. We hit Beloved Books hard (coming home with lots of used books). We found lots of goodies at JM Cremps, and several other places. Since we are mostly a literature based, notebooking, lapbooking, homeschool family, books to read are what we mainly what we bring home with us.
Teach Them Diligently is so much more than a homeschool convention. It is a time of encouragement, a revival, a gathering of friends, a time to make new friends, a time to find that little voice that will keep you going (someone there will be His voice to you).
Next Teach Them Diligently Event
I want to take this time to remind you that you have more opportunities left this summer to attend some Teach Them Diligently Events. The Teach Them Diligently Marketplace is traveling all over the country to a city near you.
At each of the Teach Them Diligently Marketplaces, there will be curriculum centers (stores) with huge discounts on homeschool products for every family.
Attendees can expect to find an incredible selection of curriculum and educational materials on-site allowing you to compare them side by side to help you choose what is best for your family. There will be curriculum specialists available to help you evaluate which curriculums will best suit your family and your children’s learning styles. We will even feature outstanding digital resources. It truly is the first ever Homeschool Curriculum Superstore.
Make your plans now to join us, and you will be inspired, encouraged and equipped to continue your homeschooling journey! All of this is available for only $15 per family (which includes a $10 gift certificate to use as you shop!!)
If 1 day just isn’t enough for you, join us the night before the Marketplace event! Apologia is hosting a mom’s retreat on Friday evening, which would be a great mom’s night out for you and your friends. Check out more about the Apologia Real Refreshment Mini Retreat.
As you can see the opportunity of encouragement along this parenting and homeschool journey are nearly endless when attending any Teach Them Diligently Event.
