The Homeschool Mother’s Journal

  • In my life this week…

We have been trying pull out of convention mode and get the house in order.  It is actually taking longer than I thought.  We also finished wheat harvest and have buckets of wheat set back for our family’s use.  I just got my van out of the shop this morning, and ran farm errands this afternoon.  I treated myself to some flowers to help fill out the pot in front of our home. Winking smile

  • In our homeschool this week…

I have been trying out a few different software planners to help hopefully get a grasp on scheduling and routines for the new year.  I am looking for something that will automatically sync between many devices.  Cozi.com is one of them and so far, I really like it.

  • Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

Take the summer to relax and get ready for the new year.  There is plenty of time to get the lessons done during the yucky weather months.  Be sure to keep some time aside every week or so to review concepts from the last year. Give your children some new or old books to read.  Keep up the bible studies and then just enjoy some time together.

  • I am inspired by…

My friend Dawn who has been an encouragement as a homeschool mom to me for several years.

  • Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

We will be having a little 9 year old girl staying with us some this summer.  Our family is excited about this opportunity to minister to another family.

We are also excited to get to spend a day soon with new friends from the homeschool convention.

  • My favorite thing this week was…

Hopefully getting my van fixed. lol  Both the O2 sensors quit and it no longer idles…this is bad when in a parking garage and trying to back out of the parking place during rush hour…

Idling today was iffy at times, so, I suppose the next week or two will give me more to go on.

  • What’s working/not working for us…

Getting any school done.  It is a super busy time on the farm, and we have some math to get done before we start our new year officially.

I am loving a form I designed to jot ideas on for the next year.

My chore system is working great and right now, my house is about as clean as it gets as long as you stay on the main floor.  Bedrooms are gonna get hit next week.

  • Things I’m working on…

Garden.  I have 6 tomatoes, 6 peppers, 5 squash, onions, green beans and sugar snap peas.  I have a few things left to plant yet, but it looks better right now, than it ever did last year.

  • I’m reading…

A Proverbs 31 Bible Study.  Right now between convention, harvest and recovery from them, I am a bit behind, but I am still working through it.

  • A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
