We are less than a week away from the homeschool convention in my own stomping ground. The Teach Parent Association Convention in Wichita KS. I have attended this convention for 9 years.
From the vendors to the speakers, this convention has always been top notch. For a Kansas crowd, it pulls in big names. This year, we will be blessed to hear Todd Wilson and Diane Craft.
Are you a husband needing to know how to help your wife? Todd Wilson can bring a humerous side to showing dads unique ways to support the homeschool mom.
Todd is the author of Lies Homeschooling Moms Believe,Help! I’m Married to a Homeschooling Mom and The Official Book of Homeschooling Cartoons, is a dad, writer, conference speaker, and former pastor. Todd’s humor and gut-honest realness have made him a favorite speaker at homeschool conventions across the country and a guest on Focus on the Family.
As founder of Familyman Ministries, his passion and mission are to remind dads and moms of what’s most important through a weekly e-mail for dads, seminars, and books that encourage parents.
Todd, and his wife Debbie, homeschool their eight children in northern Indiana and travel around America in the Familyman Mobile. You can visit his website here - Family Man Ministries
Are you homeschooling a struggling learner? Diane Craft has all sorts of goodies for you.
Dianne Craft is a former homeschool mom who has a Master’s degree in Elementary and Special Education. She has 25 years’ experience teaching bright, hardworking children who have to work too hard to learn. She teaches parents across the country how to help their child learn faster and easier, using therapies and strategies that are very effective while being very inexpensive. Dianne is passionate about training parents to make learning easier for their homeschooled children. Her workshops are very informative and often entertaining. She is a Certified Natural Health Professional specializing in natural treatments for children with attention, learning, and behavioral issues. Dianne is president of the educational consulting firm, Child Diagnostics, Inc., in Littleton, Colorado. www.diannecraft.org
We will also be blessed to hear local real homeschool moms and dads. Be sure to check out all the workshop descriptions.
I will also be speaking.
Betty Eisenhour (A Journey Through Learning) - Curriculum Modification, Making Your Curriculum
Work for Your Family
Homeschooling multiple ages and abilities has a way of making the homeschool mom get
creative with curriculum. We will discuss ways to modify curriculum to meet the multiple needs and
abilities of your children, helping you spend less on curriculum, spend less time planning, and more time
educating your children. Learning basic modifications can help you enjoy pretty much any curriculum
you have and be able to use it to meet your children’s needs. We will also discuss what to look for when
purchasing curriculum to help make it easier to modify for your family. Being able to make a few
modifications will help you save money, time, and have less homeschooling stress.
Betty Eisenhour (A Journey Through Learning) – Homeschooling While Dealing with Financial Stress
Financial stress can wreak havoc on the homeschool family, especially considering that many are single income families. We will discuss ways you can help lessen the stress on your family, from grocery shopping, to curriculum purchases, to unique ways to work at home. All while remembering that God will provide for your actual needs. Keeping in mind Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose”.
Don’t forget about the vendor all. This year we have some new faces coming. I can’t wait to see many of the old faces too.
Who are you excited to see?

We will have a few folks at the convention blogging, Facebooking and tweeting about the convention. You will probably be able to glean a little information from their work.
If you will be there, be sure to stop by the A Journey Through Learning booth, #1 to say hi, as I will be there.

Todd Wilson, I’ve heard him before and he’s awesome! Betty Eisenhour’s lecture on Curriculum modification sounds interesting as well.
I’ve never been to a convention, and would love to hear any speaker, but Diane Craft sounds like she would be great to hear!
I have never had the opportunity to hear any homeschool speakers. That being said, I think I could learn a lot from any speaker.
I’ve never been to a convention and I’m just starting out homeschooling. Not sure who I’d want to hear as a speaker, but probably would want topics on those new to homeschooling.
I have never been to a convention. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if Charlotte Mason was still alive and could share her wisdom and love of children at a convention.
I’ve never been to a convention, so I’m quite sure I’d love all of the speakers!

I’m not going, but as a would-be first timer, I’d be interested in talking with current homeschool parents especially those who travel, as that is my intention next year.

I would love to hear Todd. I love to read his blog and all recently read his book “The Injection”. The roller coaster of emotions throughout the book were amazing. Good book!
I love conventions & can NEVER pick a favorite speaker!
It’s hard to choose! I have a 5yr. old that has some learning difficulties so listening to Mrs. Craft would really help. I would love to come here you speak also! Todd would be a great speaker for my husband to listen to! I can’t really pick just 1!
I meant to say “I would love to come hear you speak also!” not “here” you speak!
I would like to hear Todd Wilson. I’ve never quite made it to see him at a convention, yet…
Thank you for a chance to win.
