Flag Cookie and New Clothes Line—Works for Me!!!

What a title eh? However, I wanted to post about both, but neither really has enough information to post alone, so, I am combining them. ;)

For years, and years, well really about five years, I have wanted a nice clothes line that was not under trees and not tied to two cars. So, one morning hubby mentioned that he was headed to a hardware store. I got that special twinkle in my eye.

dh “Umm, is there something you need”

me “uhh, yeah, actually can you find out about our dryer parts we need? Belt, Pully, bearing, seal, well, the list went on”

dh”Oh, I wasn’t going to concern myself over that right now.”

Me “But, you said to watch the dryer so it doesn’t cause a fire.”

Dh “oh yeah”

Me “How about you just get that umbrella clothes line”

Dh “the one for $50?”

Me”yes”

Dh “ok, I will see if they have it”

He comes home and gets the line set up about two days later. I have never been able to stay caught up on laundry this well. I love it. Hopefully my allergies will adjust. This is so working for me to stay caught up. I have not used my dryer in over a week.

Flag Cookie

For memorial day and for Flag day, we made this cookie.

We use a shortbread cookie dough rolled out to about a 1/4 inch over a cookie sheet. Then I mix 8 oz cream cheese, a bit of sugar and vanilla to taste and some whipped cream or homemade whipped cream. Smooth it over the cookie after it has been baked and cooled. Then use red and blue fruit to make the flag design. Easy, fun and not horribly bad for you!!

We have one kind of like that, and we live in the city. I love it! It hasn’t gotten much use this year though as it’s been so cold and wet where we live. Nothing will dry on it. :( I sure pray summer comes soon.

The woman who lived across the street from me growing up (basically a Grandma to me) had a clothesline just like that and I loved it. Ours was across our backyard and not cool like that. I love sun dried clothes, I miss drying all my clothes outside (city living is tough).

It took years for me to get a clothesline. I don’t think my husband took my seriously until I said one day (a few years ago): “I’ve been asking for a clothesline for years and haven’t seen it yet!”
Next day, I had one. It’s just about 15 feet long and next time around we should consider when and where the sun shines. Half of it is in the shade, LOL, but I don’t care-I love it! I don’t know which is better: how much we save or how good the clothes smell!
That cookie looks amazing. And your kids are adorable little buttons!
