Frugal Friday-Online Homeschool Conferences.

I just spent several days “attending” the Heart of the Matter Winter Refresher Homeschool Conference. It is done all through webinars. A stay in your jammies, and attend the conference through a website. Interact through chat type of a thing. The speakers were live and it was just GREAT!

So, why am I posting this as a Frugal Friday post?

You don’t have to drive anywhere.
No childcare needed.
No hotel room needed.
No meals out.
No vender hall with all the stuff you supposedly need to homeschool.
You won’t have to buy the Cds to the missed workshops, as they are included in your $12.95 registration fee as MP3s.

This was particularly frugal for me, as a dear friend gave me my ticket. However, when the next conference comes in August, I will be attending regardless. The speakers were amazing. My favorites were Heather Laurie from Special Needs Homeschooling, Natalie Wickham from Pajama School, plus many many more. I don’t have some of their website found right now, so I will leave it at that for now.

This conference was a great pick-me-up to help push through the rest of the year. They were great and really on top of any techie issues that popped up, and the whole group was super friendly. We are now connecting at the HOTM forums and facebook. We all made a few friends and found out we all struggle with similar issues. There is no perfect homeschooler out there, and we all have bad days, but we all have good days too. Hey, I actually think I may be a normal homeschooler…or not, but I know there are others out there just like me…or not, but similar.
