High school math besides algebra
teaching kids who just don’t get it because I do get it and can’t understand how they don’t sometimes.
I’m not good at math. What’s hardest for me is having to come up with reasons for why my daughter needs to learn it when obviously her mother doesn’t know it and gets along just fine in the world.
My kids do really well in math. They just take their time doing it. They could probably use work on the basic facts.
My biggest challenge teaching math is conceptualization. I have a child that even with manipulatives, has a hard time “seeing” how to solve a problem.
This is our first year homeschooling and we have had to reteach many concepts that were taught incorrectly in school, so we struggle with what basics we still need to teach.
Keeping my child’s attention. She loses focus if she feels we are covering something she already knows, or if I ask her to practice it.

I taught high school math in the public school system, and sometimes I think, “How in the world do I teach the basics?” By the time I got my students, they already knew the basics (or were supposed to know them…
).
I was never truly good at math and still struggle in my teaching as i can not fully understand.
Math was never a strong subject for me, so how do I help my kids when I couldn’t do it myself.
finding math programs that work for my special needs children
Teaching him new concepts without him getting frustrated
Keeping the kids engaged and making it fun!
Helping them learn the facts in a fun non-stressful way.
I also agree, Fact memorization is the hardest part for us.
Consistently teaching at the appropriate level for multiple children with special needs
