I have been blessed to be asked to review three books from Pumpkin Seed Press by Shelley Noonan.
- The Companion Guide to Beautiful Girlhood
- Beyond Beautiful Girlhood Plus Companion Guide
- The Three Weavers
Mothers and daughters will be blessed to spend time working through The Companion Guide to Beautiful Girlhood and Beyond Beautiful Girlhood Plus Companion Guide. These are gentle Bible Studies for mother and daughter guiding them in
The Companion Guide to Beautiful Girlhood $13.95
This book is like a small notebook to journal your way through Beautiful Girlhood. It contains scripture references for further study, journaling topics, pages for journaling, discussion questions and Bible Activities and Application. These books are meant to be done together by mother and daughter, though the daughter is expected to do the journaling. This book is for ages 9-13. A few of the character topics covered are:
- Friendships
- Obedience
- Truthfulness
- Sincerity
- Responsibility
Some of the topics will be a bit awkward for some moms who may not have been raised in an open relationship with their mother, I find this to be a good way to help open the discussion of these topics with their daughter.
For our family we will be covering the 32 chapters of the book over 32 weeks. I also believe, that we will wait until the age of ten or eleven to work through this book. Though I will be reading through it and applying many of the thoughts and such that I bring away from it in my daily parenting of three daughters.
This should be a must have for any Christian home with young girls. The mother-daughter relationship is sure to be strengthened and opened in a new way as you work through this book together.
I was provided a copy of The Companion Guide to Beautiful Girlhood from Pumpkin Seed Press in exchange for my honest opinion, no other compensation was given.
Beyond Beautiful Girlhood Plus Companion Guide $16.95
Mom’s with daughters between the ages of 13 and 21 are sure to want to continue their study of Godly womanhood with the help of Beyond Beautiful Girlhood Plus Companion Guide (238 pages).
Each chapter of the book contains Mother to Mother-to give mothers a vision of what they can accomplish in each chapter, Journal Questions for recording thoughts, Bible Study to give insight on how each chapter topic can be pleasing to God, Projects to enrich, and resources for further study.
Some of the projects include:
-
Creating a budget
-
Needed Sleep
-
Menu Plans
-
Chore Chart
-
Examine Friendships
-
Love Language study
Though it is said that this book can be completed in seven weeks, I can see taking seven months…a chapter per month to really dig deep and study together making plenty of time for further study and discussion.
Chapters include:
-
The Girl of Thirteen
-
A Daughter at Home
-
The Girl and Her Friends
-
Her Innocent Pleasures
-
Her Books
-
Higher Education
-
Her Occupation
I highly recommend this to any mother of daughters. I can see this really helping mothers guide their daughters into Godly Women ready to serve and be a helpmeet to their future husbands.
The Three Weavers plus Companion Guide $13.95
This book is a father’s guide to guarding his daughter purity. It is designed for use by fathers and their daughters ages 12-18.
It is designed to take approximately seven weeks, though as I look through the books, you can easily take longer by doing more activities, and digging deeper.
Each chapter is set up with a short story, discussion guide, Father’s Bible Study, Father/Daughter Bible Study, and activity.
There is space in the book to write out answers and thoughts for discussion.
A few of the activities include:
-
Write a letter to daughter about your thoughts and feelings when she was born.
-
Purchase a gift for your daughter that will not be opened until her wedding day.
-
Evaluate your daughter’s level of discernment
-
Relationship building ideas
This book is more a guide for fathers, with some discussion for daughters to join in on.
If you are a father and looking for a way to discuss and train your daughter in a sound Biblical manner on this delicate topic of purity, then I highly recommend this book.
I was given each of these book for my honest review. I will receive no further compensation.

We have Beautiful Girlhood and the companion guide. Haven’t gotten the Three Weavers yet, and we’re still too young for Beyond Beautiful Girlhood. I love them, but my daughter’s still a bit young and immature for them. I think she’s coming around, though.
I don’t think the Companion Guide gives enough room for writing, though, so I’m going to be getting her a pretty bound journal to use along with it.
Congratulations! I’ve awarded you the Versatile Blogger Award!
