PLEASE NOTE: though the product is still well liked here. I have found that the honesty and moral values of this company have since changed, or become very obvious to me. At this time, I would be very cautious ordering anything from here. I am sorry to have to add this to this post, but I don’t want my readers to suffer from my recommendation.
I know we have all been there. Some days it just feels like we live the day before over again, and again and again. However, with a bit of creativeness, you can dig out of that slump. There are many ways to do this. One way is to subscribe to magazines that will encourage you. One of my favorites is The Homemaker’s Mentor. You find advice, encouragement, and ideas throughout the entire magazine.
From recipes, to cleaning tips to sewing, this has it all. I learned about baking bread bowls, making a drawstring skirt, how to make homemade black beans and so much more. Issue two is loaded with many pumpkin recipes. I have around 15 cups of pumpkin frozen from last year. Now, I get to use it on these great recipes. There is a lesson on making beef jerky. We may try this on some deer meat we have. There is a lesson on making homemade fruit rollups. The way my strawberry plants are taking off, by next year, I will need this.
Talk about getting out of the homemaking slump, with this magazine, there are so many new recipes, cleaning ideas, sewing patterns, and everything you can imagine, that you will be trying to find more hours in your day as a homemaker just to use them all.
For the record, my house is not spotless after reading this magazine, however we have eaten new foods, have some new sewing projects to complete, and have used some of her cleaning tips to help our old dingy bathroom sink look fairly sparkly for a bit anyway.
The instructions in this magazine are very plain and easy to understand. There are pictures that walk you along also. There are little bits of encouragement sprinkled throughout to help give you that lift you need to keep on keeping on.
Would you like to win one of these magazines? You can.
First take a look around Marmee Dear & Co. and leave a comment telling me one thing you wish you could have. This is MANDATORY.

If I had to pick just ONE item from Marmee’s site, I would want the Bosch mixer. I’ve wanted one for a bit, but my current KitchenAid mixer is still humming along. LOL!
Great giveaway! The magazine looks like so much fun!

I LOVE Marmee Dear and Co.
If I am absolutely dreaming, I would say I’d LOVE a Wondermill. The hubby of a dear friend who passed away gave me an unopened bin of wheat she bought to try, but alas, the new mill she also bought was gone…so there the lonely (and heavy) wheat bin sits, acting as a stool for my kids in our kitchen instead of providing wholesome bread for our bellies. This is a true story! Really!!
A tiny bit more realistically, I’d also love the Homestead Blessings 6 CD set. My daughters would have fun watching those with me. My mom gave me Baking with Julia for my birthday (cookbook and dvd) and they have wanted to try something new every day. I hope their enthusiam remains the same once they can do things on their own!!
Even more realistically, book two of the Granmother’s Hope Chest series would be great. We have enjoyed book one immensely.
I also joined your pages on Facebook. I am going to try to find a copy of Holy Housewives and join your discussion group. It sounds like fun.
