This week has been very busy. It wasn’t really planned that way, but we had two opportunities to go swimming—something we do not do all that often. Then we had a doctor appointment, garden needed attention, my husband’s aunt passed away and daily life doing chores and homeschool.
Sunday, we went to church and came home. Hubby expected to spend the afternoon here, but ended up in the field. The rest of us set up the baby pool and everyone played while mom took some pictures.
Monday we got up did morning chores, and started on independent study, while mom went out and picked green beans. First round was about two gallons worth. That afternoon we went into to the public pool and had a grand time.
Tuesday Hannah woke with a bit more rash then she has had, by evening it was getting worse. I was up by three am. We did school and chores, and just kind of tried to stay in. I have felt little bits of anxiety pushing in, and need to get a grip on them.
Wednesday I woke by 4:30 to stay up and then when Hannah woke, she looked like an over ripe cherry. Off to the pediatrician we went. Six children, one tired mom and the doctor’s office, grocery shopping and to the bread outlet. Hannah has a severe case of Eczema. Home for supper of pot roast, taters, and other goods from the garden. Brad’s aunt JoAnn passed away this morning. Her funeral will be on Saturday.
Thursday I woke at four am. YAWN!! The super busy-ness was catching up on me, and I made the decision to cut school out for the rest of the week and take an easy. Some fun and sun was in store for us. We went swimming with three other families-total of 18 children, and had a lot of fun.
Friday we are going to get caught up on housework. Swimming with six children creates a bunch of laundry. We also need to get everything arranged for Saturday. I will jump back into school on Monday, but at a reduced amount. I need to be real, and understand that trying to do three to four hours of school, household chores, farm work, gardening, and preserving is not realistic with six children under 11.
I am not super mom, and my ability to attempt it has failed. I know that my inability to sleep past three of four am will only lead to depression and more, so getting a grip now, will be best for all. I am just glad that I have grown enough over the last year to know that, Thanks God for that.
Saturday is Brad’s aunt’s funeral. In the afternoon, I will get ready for Sunday, a day of swimming, and food at my mom’s home after church. We are sad to miss Brad’s uncle’s birthday party, but we can only fit so much in one weekend.
I pray everyone has a safe and Happy Independence Day!!! Thank you to our forefathers who signed for our freedom. Thank you to those who serve now to protect our freedom. May God Bless America!!!!! The land of the Free and the Home of the BRAVE!!!

I don’t know- with all you had going on this week, I think the title of “Super Mom” fits you nicely!

In no way are any of us super-mom’s so don’t beat yourself up! Sounds like you did great this week. We also are still schooling some over the summer, but not full-fledged school. And it’s hard to keep everything balanced. I’ll be praying for you.

Don’t be so hard on yourself! It sounds like you homeschool year round, so taking a couple days/week when things get busy shouldn’t be a big deal. I know how you feel though, because I think we put undue pressure on ourselves and we expect ourselves to be able to handle it all with grace. We’re human and we need to rest and take care of ourselves so we can take care of those kiddies. 6 under age 11! WOW…you’re living my dream. I always wanted 6 and I wanted them close in age…realistically I probably wouldn’t have been able to handle it though. I get so stressed out sometimes. I had a guy call me paranoid last night because I ran to get my 4 year old who was getting into a swimming pool without his arm floats…seemed like a reason to semi-panic, maybe not?? Maybe I’m just an over-protective homeschooling mom? Anyway…sounds to me like you’re doing an excellent job…you didn’t forget to have fun with the kids…those are the things that will matter to them when they get older.

Hang in there…and get some sleep…even if you have to put everyone to bed at 8pm with dirty dishes in the sink!
BTW, I’m from the TOS crew

Hi! I’m from the Crew…just checking out your site, again. I am curious about this statement you made above…”I am not super mom, and my ability to attempt it has failed. I know that my inability to sleep past three of four am will only lead to depression and more, so getting a grip now, will be best for all. I am just glad that I have grown enough over the last year to know that, Thanks God for that” Can you explain? I’ve never thought about it like this but I’m wondering if I have the same type issue. Email me privately please! Thanks!
When my oldest was a baby, she had terrible Eczema as well. We go to a holistic doctor and he recommended a treatment called Graphites (from a natural foods store). We used it throughout her babyhood and it works wonders! We also discovered later that most of her Eczema was related to food allergies - mainly peanuts. Hope you get it worked out soon!
Tim,
Today went fairly well.
Notice, I said I am SLOWING down? Yep, really I am. I have too. I know in another season, when baby sleeps through the night, we aren’t baling hay every day, and dh is home more then 2 hrs a day (awake) I will be able to keep up better. For now, I need to be realistic. Reviews shouldn’t be a big deal. I have been doing them fairly regularly as is.
It is supposed to rain, so life should slow down a bit for a few days.
My word! How are you going to have time for the writing reviews? Glad your on the Crew, though! I’ll be praying for you.

Cute pictures! My little ones have the same slide/climber and we have done the same thing with putting in the little pool. My kids, on their way to soon out growing it, still love it, and I love that is was a $5 garage sale find! Happy and safe 4th to your family!
We are still on break. Sounds like you are getting a lot done. You might not be super-mom, but NONE of us are!!!
Enjoy your weekend.
